Bordeaux-based enologist (wine expert) Benjamin Lebel interrupts work on his next original wine publication, assisted by haughty relative and eager Virgile, to identify a Grand Cru château from Pomerol for police detective Barbaroux. It's used as signature in a ritual, filling one glass more each time, at a serial killer's successive murder scenes and a wartime tomb. Although told by the rude inspector to butt out, Lebel, who also receives anonymous, old pictures of the victims, works out they all had something to do with World War II, which the château vintage dates from too, and possibly with Vichy collaboration.

In 1942, more than 8,000 Jews were arrested on 16 and 17 July and sent to the Vélodrome d'Hiver sports center in the 15th district, a stone's throw from the Eiffel Tower, before being deported. The expression "Vel d'Hiv round-up" has become part of our collective memory, to the point of becoming the main memorial reference point for France during the dark years. Based on research carried out in unpublished or rarely explored archives, this film retraces the history of this roundup as experienced by hunted Jews and police trackers, from its planning in the Vichy offices to its hour-by-hour unfolding in the streets of Paris.

Charles Baudelaire was one of the giants of 19th-century French poetry, and he earned his position among that nation's luminaries through the poems in one slim volume, entitled Les Fleurs du Mal (Flowers of Evil). A perfectionist to the extreme, he struggled with every word of those few poems for many years before he consented to see them published. When he did, six of them were condemned by the state censors as obscene. It was surely a powerful blow to him to have such a significant part of his life's work so rudely suppressed. This courtroom drama follows him at the 1857 trial at which he defended his works. The filmmaker has chosen to symbolically re-enact certain poems about the love of a woman as they are being read for the court. It is easy to imagine that, as was certainly the case for the trial of Oscar Wilde in England, this courtroom trial was a form of punishment for his publicly dissolute lifestyle.

At 5959m, Mount Logan is the second highest peak in North America, and certainly one of the wildest mountains in the world.
